The Desk Jockey’s Ride

I get asked quite a bit where I do my work. The wiseass answer is in my head. But this is where I hang out most days. This desk take up a big chunk of my bedroom, so I don’t lose much time on my daily commute.

Some things on this desk that I take a lot of pride in are (to the left of my Mac) my grandfather’s unit patches from WWI (he also fought in WWII, losing his life in Palestine. The story goes that he fell of his horse, drunk, after visiting a brothel) and a nice letter from Nelson DeMille congratulating me on THE DEATH TRUST. The painting is of a traffic jam in NYC, painted by Susan Baird in ’92.

The scenery on my desk doesn’t change much – the mess just gets shifted from one spot to another.
